The ESD Series Sinewave Dimmers

The ESD Series are precision digital sinewave dimmer that works with both HID (High Intensity Discharge) and Fluorescent lights.  Dimming of lighting during off-peak or non-occupied times can result in energy and cost savings of greater than 50%, particularly in applications such as parking garages, athletic facilities, warehouses and manufacturing areas.

The ESD Series dimmers are installed at the lighting panel, eliminating any need to modify or rewire the existing lighting fixtures and ballasts.  With paybacks of less than 3 years, the ESD dimmers qualify for most utility energy savings rebates and tax credits.

Designed to continuously dim HID and Fluorescent lamps infinitely from 50% to 100% (30% to 100% for Fluorescent lamps), the ESD  responds linearly to a standard 0-10 Vdc signal from any lighting control system.  Using daylight harvesting, motion detection, or door entry switches, the ESD can respond to any particular lighting needs.  With light intensity sensors, the ESD can be used to control lumen maintenance.

The ESD dimmers controls the following lighting power voltages and loads:

Maximum Amps: ESD-5540 = 20 Amps
ESD-8310 = 30 Amps
Maximum Watts:
ESD-*-A     110 Vac:
ESD-*-B     208 Vac:
ESD-*-B     220 Vac:
ESD-*-B     240 Vac:
ESD-*-B     277 Vac:

8310 Watts handles up to 18-400 Watt HID or 235-T8/35 Fluorescent lamps!

Various energy saving schemes can be used:

  • Maximum Reduction Dimming: Dim lights to 90% at all times (except for events). People cannot detect a 10% difference in light intensity, so one part of the strategy is to set the Sinewave dimmers to 90% at all times, thus saving 10% of the original energy.
  • Daylight Harvesting: In many applications, daylight is available through openings, windows or skylights. A daylight sensor can be used to sense the available light and dim the electric lights to take advantage of, or supplement, the available daylight. The savings can approach 50% for HID lamps and 70% for fluorescent lamps.
  • Unoccupied Dimming: Dim the lighting to a lower level until needed (50% for HID, 30% for fluorescent). Because HID lamps cannot instantly restart, they cannot be turned off if they may be needed quickly. The Sinewave dimmer can dim the lighting to low levels during unoccupied periods and return to full power on motion detection.
The ESD Series Dimmers are truly an idea whose time has come!

Want to save energy and money, but dealing with budget constraints? Sinewave ESD lighting controllers can now be leased with an option to purchase.  In most cases, the electric cost savings will more than cover the lease payments.   http://sinewave.vendorfinancial.com
